How to Install the HoverSpeak Extension to Chrome
In this quick guide, you’ll install the HoverSpeak extension from the Chrome Web Store, pin it for easy access, and run a fast test to confirm everything works. After the installation, you'll be able to use HoverSpeak right away and have any text narrated to you simply by clicking a shortcut.
Get the Extension
Use one of the options below to open HoverSpeak's listing:
On the extension page, click Add to Chrome and approve the permissions when prompted.
Pin HoverSpeak to Your Toolbar
- Click the Extensions puzzle icon in the toolbar.
- Find HoverSpeak and click the pin icon so it stays visible.
- Optional: Right‑click the HoverSpeak icon → Options to review settings.
Last Important Step! (Voices)
Voices, Voices, and more voices! After you complete your installation, navigate to any website. HoverSpeak will display a final setup/mini tutorial module on that page, like the one in the screenshot to the right.
Here, you decide to enable the more natural sounding voices from Google or Microsoft, for example. That will determine how many voices you will have to choose from and their quality.
You can change your choice at any time in the HoverSpeak options page.
